Behind the deisgn
The front of the hoodie features hoe (paddles) symbolising kotahitanga, a collective purpose and moving forward together. It is also a symbol of our whakapapa and the haerenga our tūpuna have taken before us.
The tamariki pants also feature hoe 1x per leg - representing our tamariki carrying their whakapapa with them in every step.
On the back of the hoodies there is text that reads ‘whānau, whakapapa, whenua’ The three key pillars we hold as Tangata Whenua.
This kākahu is about where we come from, who we come from, who we are and where we are going.
It is possibly the most special kākahu we will ever release - It is an acknowledgment of the past and our tūpuna before us, an acknowledgment of who we are and where we are right now but also a symbol of unity and perseverance for the future of our people.
